Newspapers and related print materials are a vital primary resource. These monographs may contain the only written information regarding events, people, places, and organizations. Despite the heavy impact newspapers have on information, many papers have not been preserved, are behind paywalls, or may be available but hard to access. Due to the low quality of paper used for most newspapers, material degredation may occur long before any copying or digitization project. Even papers that are digitized may not be accessible outside of an organization, or may be unsearchable, uncategorized, and undescribed.
